The initial one I received would not calibrate so I called the CDN customer service number and they sent me a replacement. This one worked to my expectations. The response time was not instant, more like 10 seconds or so. I liked the sharp point for internal measurement on meats but it is hard to determine just where the sensor is in this part of the probe.-i.e at the very tip, middle or the entire length of the 3/4" probe tip. (That is a concern for the other, upper end product too.) But..It didn't last 2 weeks. As I said, using it around the stove for everything from chicken breasts to alfredo sauce, having it hanging nearby was handy. However, it does get dirty and I do believe it needs to be cleaned. Which I accomplished by dipping the metal probe into soapy water and giving it a gentle scrub, being very careful not to immerse the plastic handle-electronics and then drying it gently.
