Triple Count Down/Up Timer by ThermoWorks Reviews 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful ![]() Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Triple Count Down/Up Timer by ThermoWorks Okay, the other reviewer doesn't know what she's talking about. The way that this triple timer functions is exactly the way most other triple timers function. The directions are clearly and accurately written on the back of the packaging. Once you figure it out and get used to it, this little timer is an incredibly powerful kitchen tool! I love mine. I found it so handy I purchased another one for my laboratory at work. The important thing to know about this timer is that it has two "screens": one with the clock, stopwatch timer, and count up timer, and the other with the three countdown timers. You switch between these two "screens" by using the "CLOCK/TIMER" button. Here is what you do to set the countdown timer(s): 1. Press the "CLOCK/TIMER" button to switch to the TIMER mode 2. To set the desired timer (1, 2, or 3), press and hold the appropriate button (T1, T2, or T3) until "TIMER" blinks on the display. 3. Press the "HR", "MIN", and "SEC"... It's a great timer, but not at all intuitive, which leads to mistakes. To set the timer, you need to press and hold the corresponding timer button (T1, T2, or T3) for several seconds, enter the time, and then press the timer button again. This sets the countdown time. To start the timer, you need to either press the timer button again or the Start/Stop button. The Start/Stop button controls all three timers, so if you already have a timer going, or you only want to start one timer, you need to control each timer with it's own button. I've found it very hard to get into the habit of pushing the timer button two times in a row to immediately start the timer after I set it. If I set up the timers before I start to cook, then this timer is great. If I need to set a new time in the middle of cooking, I inevitably end up setting the timer, but forgetting to hit the button again to start... I figured, "How tough could it be?" Well, to give you an idea, my 14 year old son who is the electronics and gadget expert (the one who can program the most difficult digital watch, finds all the neat software gadgets for my computer and Blackberry and knows all the tricks for the Wii) cannot figure it out. I have been able to get the first timer working occasionally, although the buttons you need to press are not intuitive. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can get the second timeer working when I want to, sometimes it works on its own. Sometimes I can shut it off, sometimes not. Bottom line - I would be better off with three separate timers. This thing is WORTHLESS. |
