This is the company that makes the Thermapen (which is highly touted by Alton Brown).I use this infrared thermometer all around the house (my wife would probably say too much). When cooking, I use it to determine when my pan is the right temperature, when the oil for frying is ready, when my pizza stone is hot enough, etc. Elsewhere in the house, I use it to ensure the refrigerator is cold enough, the A/C is working properly, and the heater is heating efficiently. Most recently, I use it when running the bath for my newborn daughter to make sure the water is an acceptable temperature. I just purchased another one as a housewarming gift for my best friend.
